No. VerseQuest welcomes all levels—from brand new believers to longtime students of the Word.
Who is the Angel of the LORD in the Old Testament?
We believe the Angel of the LORD is a Christophany—a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus Christ, based on KJV scriptural evidence.
Is once saved always saved true?
Yes. We believe salvation is by grace through faith and eternal, secured by Christ’s finished work—not by human effort or maintenance.
Do you believe in a literal 1,000-year reign of Christ?
Yes. As premillennialists, we believe in a literal future reign of Christ on earth following the Tribulation.
Why do you only use the King James Bible?
We believe the KJV is the most accurate and doctrinally sound English translation, free of modern textual corruption.
What does it mean to be 'set apart'?
Being set apart means living in holiness, avoiding compromise, and being transformed by God's Word rather than conformed to the world.
What does it mean to rightly divide the word of truth?
Rightly dividing the word of truth means studying Scripture in its proper doctrinal setting, audience, time period, and purpose. Second Timothy 2:15 commands the believer to rightly divide the word of truth, which means not every command, promise, covenant, or commission is aimed at the same group in the same way. VerseQuest teaches that confusion disappears when the Bible student distinguishes Israel, the Church, and the nations.
Why is right division important?
Right division is important because it prevents believers from stealing promises given to Israel, misapplying tribulation passages to the Church, or forcing kingdom doctrine into the present Church Age. Without right division, men confuse law and grace, prophecy and mystery, Israel and the Body of Christ, the rapture and the Second Coming, and salvation doctrine with discipleship passages.
What is the difference between Israel and the Church?
Israel is a nation with earthly promises, covenants, land, a throne, a kingdom, and prophetic promises connected to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, and the prophets. The Church, the Body of Christ, is a spiritual body made up of saved Jews and Gentiles in this age, seated in heavenly places in Christ. First Corinthians 10:32 clearly distinguishes Jews, Gentiles, and the Church of God.
Did the Church replace Israel?
No. The Church did not replace Israel. God’s promises to Israel are not canceled because Israel rejected her Messiah. Romans 11 teaches that Israel has been temporarily blinded in part, but God is not finished with the nation. Replacement theology confuses the Bible and steals Israel’s covenants, kingdom promises, land promises, and prophetic restoration.
What is the mystery revealed to Paul?
The mystery revealed to Paul concerns truth that was kept secret since the world began and later revealed for the Church Age. Romans 16:25 and Ephesians 3 show that this mystery was not the same thing as Old Testament prophecy. It includes the formation of the Body of Christ, Jew and Gentile in one body, salvation by grace through faith, and the heavenly calling of the Church.
What is the difference between prophecy and mystery?
Prophecy concerns things spoken by the prophets since the world began, while mystery concerns things kept secret since the world began. Acts 3:21 points to prophecy spoken by the prophets; Romans 16:25 points to mystery truth kept secret. Those are not the same category. Mixing them causes confusion about Israel, the Church, the kingdom, the rapture, and salvation doctrine.
What gospel saves sinners today?
Sinners today are saved by believing the gospel of the grace of God: that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. First Corinthians 15:1–4 gives the gospel clearly. Salvation is not by works, sacraments, church membership, baptism, law-keeping, or religious performance, but by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Is salvation by faith alone?
Yes. Salvation in this Church Age is by grace through faith, not of works. Ephesians 2:8–9 says salvation is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Good works matter after salvation, but they do not purchase, secure, or complete salvation. Christ’s blood and finished work are enough.
Can a saved believer lose salvation?
No. A saved believer in the Body of Christ is sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. Eternal security rests on Christ’s finished work, not man’s ability to maintain himself. If salvation could be lost, then salvation would ultimately depend on human performance rather than the grace, blood, promise, and power of God.
What does eternal security mean?
Eternal security means that once a sinner is truly saved by grace through faith in Christ, he is kept by God and sealed by the Holy Spirit. It does not mean a believer cannot backslide, grieve the Spirit, lose joy, lose rewards, or face chastening. It means salvation is God’s gift and cannot be undone by the weakness of the saved sinner.
What is the difference between backsliding and apostasy?
Backsliding is when a saved believer falls into sin, coldness, disobedience, or spiritual neglect. Apostasy is a departure from the truth, often involving rejection of sound doctrine and a turning to false teaching. A backslider needs restoration and correction; an apostate system needs exposure and rejection. The Bible distinguishes personal failure from doctrinal rebellion.
What is repentance?
Repentance is a change of mind that turns a sinner from unbelief toward God and truth. In salvation, repentance is not a payment for sin or a promise to live perfectly; it is the sinner’s change of mind about sin, self, righteousness, and Christ. True repentance will produce fruit, but the fruit is not the basis of salvation.
Are works required for salvation?
No. Works are not required to receive salvation. The Bible plainly says salvation is not of works. However, good works should follow salvation because the believer is created in Christ Jesus unto good works. Works are evidence of growth and obedience, not the price of redemption.
Is water baptism necessary for salvation today?
No. Water baptism is not necessary for salvation in the Church Age. Salvation today is by grace through faith in the gospel of Christ. Water baptism is a public testimony and act of obedience after salvation, but it does not wash away sin, regenerate the soul, or place a sinner into the Body of Christ. Only the Spirit of God can do that.
What is Spirit baptism?
Spirit baptism is the work of the Holy Spirit placing the believer into the Body of Christ. First Corinthians 12:13 says that by one Spirit believers are baptized into one body. This is not water baptism. It is the spiritual operation of God that joins the saved sinner to Christ and to His body.
What is the Body of Christ?
The Body of Christ is the Church made up of saved believers in this present age. It is not a building, denomination, nation, or religious institution. It is a spiritual body with Christ as the Head. Every saved believer is placed into that body by the Holy Spirit and is united to Christ.
When did the Church Age begin?
The Church Age is connected with the revelation of the mystery committed to Paul and the formation of the Body of Christ. Acts is a transitional book, moving from Israel’s kingdom offer and apostolic signs into the full revelation of Pauline Church Age doctrine. Understanding Acts as transitional prevents many doctrinal mistakes.
Why is the book of Acts transitional?
Acts is transitional because it records the movement from Israel’s rejection of the kingdom message to the revelation of the Church Age mystery through Paul. In Acts, signs, Jewish worship, temple activity, kingdom preaching, Gentile salvation, and Pauline revelation overlap. Building permanent doctrine from transitional passages without right division creates confusion.
What is the difference between the Kingdom of Heaven and the Body of Christ?
The Kingdom of Heaven is connected to the literal, earthly, promised kingdom associated with Israel and the reign of Christ. The Body of Christ is the spiritual body of saved believers in the Church Age, with a heavenly calling. Confusing these two leads to wrong doctrine about the Sermon on the Mount, the Tribulation, the Millennium, and Christian living.
What is the Kingdom of God?
The Kingdom of God is broader than the Kingdom of Heaven and concerns God’s spiritual rule and righteousness. A believer enters the Kingdom of God by the new birth. The Kingdom of Heaven is especially connected to the visible, earthly kingdom promised to Israel. Both phrases matter, but they are not always interchangeable in every passage.
What is the rapture?
The rapture is the catching away of the Church before the Tribulation. First Thessalonians 4 describes the Lord descending, the dead in Christ rising, and living believers being caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. This blessed hope is distinct from Christ’s visible return to earth in judgment.
Is the rapture before the Tribulation?
Yes. VerseQuest teaches a pre-tribulational rapture. The Church is not appointed to wrath, and the Tribulation is the time of Jacob’s trouble, dealing with Israel and the nations. The rapture removes the Body of Christ before Daniel’s seventieth week unfolds in full judgment upon the earth.
What is the difference between the rapture and the Second Coming?
At the rapture, Christ comes for His Church, and believers meet Him in the air. At the Second Coming, Christ returns to the earth in power and glory to judge His enemies and establish His kingdom. The rapture is connected to comfort and deliverance; the Second Coming is connected to wrath, judgment, Israel’s deliverance, and the kingdom.
What is the Tribulation?
The Tribulation is a future period of divine judgment upon the earth, especially connected to Israel, the nations, and Daniel’s seventieth week. It includes the rise of Antichrist, severe judgments, global deception, Israel’s testing, and the wrath of God. It is not the Church Age, and the Body of Christ is not appointed to endure it.
Who is the Antichrist?
The Antichrist is the final counterfeit ruler who will rise during the last days, deceive the nations, oppose Christ, and persecute the saints of that period. He will be empowered by Satan and connected with the final world system. He is not merely a symbol of evil; he is a real prophetic figure.
What is the mark of the beast?
The mark of the beast is a future mark connected to worship, allegiance, and economic control under the Antichrist system. Revelation 13 describes it in the context of the Tribulation. It is not every modern technology, but it will involve submission to the beast and rejection of God during that future period.
Will Jesus Christ reign literally for 1,000 years?
Yes. Revelation 20 speaks of a literal thousand-year reign of Christ. VerseQuest teaches a premillennial view: Christ returns before the Millennium, defeats His enemies, delivers Israel, and reigns on earth from the throne of David. The Millennium is not symbolic of the Church Age.
What is the Millennium?
The Millennium is the future literal reign of Jesus Christ on earth for one thousand years. During this kingdom, Christ will rule with righteousness, Israel will receive her promised restoration, and the nations will be governed under the authority of the King. It is the fulfillment of many Old Testament kingdom prophecies.
What is the Judgment Seat of Christ?
The Judgment Seat of Christ is the future judgment of believers’ service, not their salvation. Saved people will give account for their works, motives, faithfulness, and stewardship. Rewards may be gained or lost, but salvation is not at stake because Christ has already paid for the believer’s sins.
What is the Great White Throne Judgment?
The Great White Throne Judgment is the final judgment of the lost. Revelation 20 shows the dead standing before God and being judged according to their works. Those not found written in the book of life are cast into the lake of fire. This is not the Judgment Seat of Christ and does not involve the Church’s rewards.
What is hell?
Hell is a real place of conscious punishment after death for the lost. It is not merely a metaphor, emotional state, or religious scare tactic. The Lord Jesus Christ warned plainly about hell. The doctrine of hell shows the seriousness of sin, judgment, and the need for salvation through Christ.
What is the lake of fire?
The lake of fire is the final eternal destination of the devil, the beast, the false prophet, death, hell, and all the lost whose names are not in the book of life. Hell and the lake of fire are related but not identical. Revelation 20 says death and hell are cast into the lake of fire.
Is heaven a real place?
Yes. Heaven is a real place where God dwells and where saved believers will be with the Lord. The believer’s hope is not wishful thinking but the promise of Christ. The saved are absent from the body and present with the Lord, awaiting resurrection and final glorification.
What happens when a believer dies?
When a saved believer dies, the body goes to the grave, but the soul and spirit are present with the Lord. The believer awaits the resurrection of the body. Death is still an enemy, but for the Christian it has lost its sting because Christ conquered sin, death, and the grave.
What happens when a lost person dies?
When a lost person dies, he enters conscious punishment and awaits final judgment. The Bible does not teach soul sleep for the lost, universal salvation, or a second chance after death. Hebrews 9:27 says it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
Is Jesus Christ God?
Yes. Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. He is not a created being, lesser god, angel, or merely a prophet. John 1:1, John 1:14, John 20:28, Colossians 2:9, and many other passages testify to His deity. Denying the deity of Christ is a fatal doctrinal error.
Was Jesus Christ born of a virgin?
Yes. The virgin birth is essential Bible doctrine. Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary. He did not inherit Adam’s sin nature. The virgin birth shows that Christ is both fully God and fully man, qualified to be the sinless sacrifice for sinners.
Did Jesus Christ sin?
No. Jesus Christ was absolutely sinless. He was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin. His sinlessness is necessary because only a spotless Lamb could die for sinners. If Christ had sinned, He would need a saviour Himself, but He is the Saviour.
Did Jesus Christ physically rise from the dead?
Yes. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was bodily, literal, and historical. He did not merely rise spiritually or live on as an idea. First Corinthians 15 makes the resurrection central to the gospel. If Christ is not risen, faith is vain, preaching is vain, and sinners are still in their sins.
Is the blood of Christ necessary for salvation?
Yes. Without shedding of blood is no remission. The blood of Jesus Christ is not symbolic decoration; it is central to redemption. Christ’s blood paid the price for sin, satisfied the righteousness of God, and purchased the believer’s redemption. Salvation rests on the finished, bloody sacrifice of Christ.
What does it mean that Christ’s work is finished?
Christ’s work is finished means that His death, burial, and resurrection fully accomplished the payment for sin. Nothing can be added to His sacrifice. Sacraments, rituals, church traditions, good works, and religious merit cannot complete what Christ already finished. The sinner must receive salvation by faith.
Is Jesus the only way to God?
Yes. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Salvation is not found in religion, sincerity, morality, tradition, or multiple paths. Christ is the only mediator between God and men and the only Saviour for sinners.
What is the Trinity?
The Trinity is the Bible truth that there is one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Matthew 28:19 names all three, while 1 John 5:7 says, “these three are one.”
Is the Holy Spirit God?
Yes. The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force but God Himself, shown by Acts 5:3-4 where lying to the Holy Ghost is called lying unto God.
Is Jesus Christ eternal?
Yes. Jesus Christ did not begin at Bethlehem; He is the eternal Word who “was with God” and “was God” in John 1:1.
What does John 1:1 mean?
John 1:1 teaches that Jesus Christ is the eternal Word, distinct in person from the Father, yet fully God in nature. It is one of the clearest verses on the deity of Christ.
Why did God create man?
God created man for His pleasure and glory. Revelation 4:11 says all things were created for God’s pleasure.
What is the image of God in man?
The image of God includes man’s spiritual nature, moral responsibility, and ability to know, worship, and answer to God. Genesis 1:26 shows man was made unlike the beasts.
What happened when Adam sinned?
When Adam sinned, sin and death entered the world. Romans 5:12 says death passed upon all men because all have sinned.
Why are people born sinners?
People are born sinners because they descend from fallen Adam. Romans 5 teaches that Adam’s sin affected the whole human race.
What is the fall of man?
The fall of man was Adam’s disobedience in Genesis 3, bringing sin, death, shame, and separation from God into the world.
Is Satan a real being?
Yes. Satan is a real personal enemy, not a symbol of evil. He tempts, deceives, accuses, and opposes God’s work.
Who is Satan?
Satan is the adversary of God and man. He appears in Scripture as the devil, serpent, tempter, accuser, and god of this world.
What is sin?
Sin is transgression against God’s law and rebellion against God’s holiness. 1 John 3:4 says, “sin is the transgression of the law.”
Are all sins the same?
All sin condemns a man before God, but the Bible also shows degrees of guilt, consequence, and judgment. Some sins bring greater damage and heavier accountability.
What is the wages of sin?
Romans 6:23 says, “the wages of sin is death.” Sin earns death physically, spiritually, and eternally apart from salvation in Christ.
Why do good people still need salvation?
Because no one is good enough to meet God’s righteousness. Romans 3:23 says, “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Can religion save a person?
No. Religion may reform outward behavior, but only Jesus Christ can save the soul. Salvation is by grace through faith, not by religious performance.
Can church membership save anyone?
No. Joining a church cannot wash away sin. A man must be born again by trusting Jesus Christ.
What does it mean to be born again?
To be born again means receiving spiritual life from God through faith in Jesus Christ. John 3:3 says a man cannot see the kingdom of God without it.
Why did Jesus say, “Ye must be born again”?
Jesus said this because physical birth is not enough. A sinner needs a new birth from above to enter God’s kingdom.
What is regeneration?
Regeneration is the new birth, when God gives spiritual life to a dead sinner who believes on Christ. Titus 3:5 connects it with the renewing work of the Holy Ghost.
What is justification?
Justification is God declaring a believing sinner righteous through Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1 says, “being justified by faith, we have peace with God.”
What is sanctification?
Sanctification means being set apart unto God. The believer is positionally sanctified in Christ and practically called to live cleanly before the Lord.
What is glorification?
Glorification is the future completion of salvation when the believer receives a glorified body. Romans 8:30 presents it as part of God’s finished purpose.
What is redemption?
Redemption means being bought back by the blood of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:7 says believers have redemption through His blood.
What is propitiation?
Propitiation means Christ satisfied God’s righteous wrath against sin. Romans 3:25 shows God set forth Christ as the propitiation through faith in His blood.
What is reconciliation?
Reconciliation means God brings the believing sinner back into peace with Himself through Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 connects it with Christ’s finished work.
What is imputation?
Imputation means God puts something to someone’s account. In salvation, the believer’s sin is charged to Christ, and Christ’s righteousness is counted to the believer.
What is grace?
Grace is God’s unearned favor toward guilty sinners. Ephesians 2:8-9 shows salvation is by grace through faith, not of works.
What is mercy?
Mercy is God withholding the judgment we deserve. Titus 3:5 says salvation is “not by works of righteousness” but according to God’s mercy.
What is faith?
Faith is believing what God said and trusting His promise. Saving faith rests in Jesus Christ, not in self, works, church, or feelings.
What does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?
It means to trust Jesus Christ personally and completely as your Saviour. Acts 16:31 says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
What is the gospel of the grace of God?
Faith is believing what God said and trusting His promise. Saving faith rests in Jesus Christ, not in self, works, church, or feelings
What does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?
It means to trust Jesus Christ personally and completely as your Saviour. Acts 16:31 says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
What is the gospel of the grace of God?
The gospel of the grace of God is the good news that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 gives the saving message for today.
Why is the resurrection necessary?
Without the resurrection, faith would be vain and sinners would still be in their sins. 1 Corinthians 15:17 makes the resurrection essential to the gospel.
Why did Christ have to die?
Christ died to pay for sins that man could never pay for himself. Romans 5:8 says Christ died for us while we were yet sinners.
What does substitutionary atonement mean?
It means Jesus Christ died in the sinner’s place. He took the judgment we deserved so believers could receive life through Him.
Did Jesus die for every person?
Yes. 1 John 2:2 says Christ is the propitiation not for believers only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
What does “whosoever will” mean?
“Whosoever will” means God’s invitation is genuinely offered to all. Revelation 22:17 says, “whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”
Does God want anyone to perish?
No. 2 Peter 3:9 says the Lord is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
What is free will?
Free will means man is responsible to respond to God’s truth. The Bible repeatedly calls sinners to believe, repent, come, receive, and obey.
